A commenter noted that Cane was also spelled Cain and pointed to a record for William Cain (possibly Cane), a 22-year-old yeoman of The Ridge. The commenter transcribed a September 11, 1899 Coe Hill marriage record naming William Cain and Jane Nicholson as parents and suggested checking Salem Cemetery and Hastings-area records.
Imported genealogical research lead, not a verified conclusion. Current source research did not locate the original register entry. Confirm the spelling, date, people and relationships against the original civil, church, cemetery or archival record before adding them to a family tree.
