The name of Bancroft’s 1957 reeve remains unverified in the current publicly accessible sources I reviewed.[unverified]
I did not find a contemporaneous 1957 council minute, directory entry or municipal record that safely identifies the officeholder, so I would not publish a name based on indirect online references.[unverified]
The strongest official records route is the Town of Bancroft Council and Committee Portal.[1]
Its e-resources area is intended for searching municipal documents such as agendas, minutes, reports and by-laws, although the portal warns that online copies are for reference and are not certified true copies.[1]
If the 1957 material is not online, the Town’s municipal-government information points to the Clerk’s Department and the municipality’s council-records process as the next place to request a historical record.[2]
For independent historical corroboration, the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County / Hastings County historical-archives route is the most useful parallel lead for local newspapers, photographs and municipal-history material.[3]
The original Ask Bancroft question is also preserved as a research lead, but it does not itself identify the reeve.[4]
Review hold
The 1957 officeholder’s name should remain unpublished until a dated municipal record, contemporary newspaper, directory or archival item confirms it.[unverified]
