A 2018 commenter identified Bancroft as part of Algonquin traditional territory and recommended the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation as an authoritative local source. Current Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini materials describe Bancroft and nearby areas as part of their traditional and ancestral lands.
Checked against current Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini sources on July 21, 2026. Follow the First Nation’s own materials for authoritative wording and future updates.
